Home Minister requests to hasten procedures to send Qasim abroad

Minister of Home Affairs, Ahmed Azleen has sent a letter to the Commissioner of Prisons, Ahmed Shihan requesting to hasten the procedures to send the Jumhooree Party Leader, Qasim Ibrahim abroad for medical treatment.

The closed letter signed by the Home Minister has now been leaked on social media. The letter asked to hastened the procedure since the Criminal Court's verdict orders that Qasim be sent abroad for treatment.

And if Qasim Ibrahim wants, Minister Azleen has requested that a specialist doctor be brought in from abroad. And since the opportunity have been given for those with the means, the Minister requested that Qasim be informed of the option.

The Jumhooree Party Leader was sentenced to three years, two months and 12 days after being convicted of offering bribes. Criminal Court also ordered the Correctional Service to send Qasim Ibrahim abroad for treatment.

Maldives Correctional Service said that they can send Qasim Abroad once the medical board approves.
