Naseer appointed Governor of MMA

Ahmed Naseer from Mushthareege in K. Maafushi has been appointed Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority.

People’s Majlis provided its backing to Naseer’s appointment during the Majlis session this Thursday morning.

He was appointed to the position and given his credentials by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom during a function at President’s Office this Thursday afternoon.

Naseer will replace former Governor Dr. Azeema Adam who resigned earlier this week.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom first nominated Assistant Governor Neeza Imad to the position, but later withdrew her name and nominated Naseer, instead.

Neeza resigned from her position as Assistant Governor after her name was withdrawn.

Naseer has served as CEO of Capital Market Development Authority and has a Bachelor’s of Commerce in Economics and Marketing and a Masters in Policy Economics.

He also served in the senior management of MMA and as Minister of State at Ministry of Finance.
