Maldives Police Service has found a number of took that can potentially be used as weapons.
Police said that the tools were found in a special operation conducted today. The potential weapons found inside a residential house include machetes, axes and knives.
While no arrests have been made in relation to the special operation, police did not reveal the name of the house or the area of the city they were found at.
The police said that no information can be revealed at this time.
When asked if the weapons were prepared to be used in attacks, police did not respond. They did not say whether the tools were hidden or not.
The capital city, Malé has seen a rise in gang violence in the past ten days with two stabbings resulting in the death of two young men. While the police have said that they have 23 people involved in the attacks in custody, it is unclear whether they were involved in any of the attacks that resulted in the deaths. Their state of remand remains unclear as well.
