Hajj Corporation makes special dollar purchase arrangements for pilgrims

Maldives Hajj Corporation has made more convenient arrangements for pilgrims under their charge to purchase US dollars.

An official from Hajj Corporation who spoke to “Sun” said that instead of having to wait to purchase US dollars from the airport on the day of departure, pilgrims can purchase US dollars beforehand from Bank of Maldives’ Islamic Branch.

Pilgrims will now be able to purchase US dollars from BML’s Islamic Branch anytime between 8 am to 2 pm until departure.

Hajj Corporation says pilgrims need to present their IDs to the bank, and that each pilgrim can purchase a maximum of USD 500.

At least one pilgrim needs to go to the bank if he or she is purchasing dollars on behalf of multiple pilgrims. And any one person can purchase dollars for no more than five pilgrims.

700 Maldivians will be making the Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia this year under the charge of Hajj Corporation. They are scheduled to depart on August 8th, 10th and 11th.
