State Trading Organization (STO) has temporarily stopped wholesale of potatoes, eggs and onions, shipments of which were imported by STO especially for the month of Ramadan.
Adam Azim, General Manager of STO, said today that STO stopped wholesaling of the said items generally until the arrival of new shipments. He said that the new shipments are expected to arrive in Malé during the next week.
Even though STO stopped wholesale of the said items, Azim said that STO’s partner-shops around Malé would continue to sell them.
“Through our partner-shops, these items would be available throughout the Ramadan without any difficulty. Our supermarket would also sell them. Our main priority was to keep our partner-shops supplied with these items”, said Azim.
Some 180 shops have been registered as STO partner-shops.
Azim said that STO would take all efforts to keep generally used food items supplied during the Ramadan.
