PM Nawaz Sharif to visit Maldives

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to arrive in Maldives on Tuesday, July 25, on an official visit, reports President’s Office.

PM Nawaz Sharif is visiting Maldives upon invitation of Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, to participate in celebrations of the 52nd Independence Day of Maldives.

He is to be Chief Guest of the celebrations.

PM Nawaz Sharif will be in Maldives from July 25 to July 27; during which time he and President Yameen will hold official talks and sign a number of Memorandums of Understanding for cooperation in various areas.

PM Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Maldives was anticipated for Independence Day celebrations the past two years, but he had to decline the invitation each time due to various reasons.

Diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Maldives was established on July 26, 1966 – on the 1st Independence Day of Maldives.
