The oppositions have raised concerns after the National Integrity Commission (NIC) has failed to complete the cases after an year.
MP for south Galolhu constituency, Ahmed Mahloof, MP for north Maafannu constituency, Imthiyaz Fahumee (Inthi) and the former Managing Director of STO, Adam Azim visited the NIC today.
Talking to the press, MP Mahloof said that they were unable to meet with the members of the commission but they were met with investigators of the NIC.
Mahloof said that when they complained about the year-long delays, the investigators said that the case is being delayed because the suspected officers of the police have not been identified.
He said that the case was not filed to punish the police but to prevent such actions in the future.
Responding to the questions from the media, MP Mahloof said that even if the cases are delayed now, the commissions will be very active once the oppositions take the majority at the parliament. Mahloof said that it is not how it should be and every case must bee investigated and a decision must be made.
The cases filed at the NIC by the oppositions include pepper-spraying protesters in the eyes and illegal obstruction of political activities by the police.
So far there have been no word from the NIC on the matter.
