Majlis holds closed meeting with IMF delegation

People’s Majlis barred media from the meeting with two of its committees and the delegation from International Monetary Fund (IMF) held this Sunday.

The meeting between the delegation from IMF and Economic Affairs Committee and Public Finance Committee was scheduled for 11:30 pm.

Neither the two committees nor People’s Majlis has yet given a reason for the decision to bar media from the meeting.

The five-member delegation from IMF arrived in Maldives for its annual visit on July 5. They are scheduled to leave the country on Tuesday, July 18.

The delegation is scheduled to meet with officials from a number of State offices and independent institutions. It has already met with senior officials from Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
