WHO donates emergency health kits to Maldives

World Health Organization (WHO) has donated health kits and devices for emergency situations to Maldives.

The donation includes medicine, devices and equipment for emergency surgeries.

Ministry of Health reports each of the health kits can treat up to 10,000 people over 3 months.

The donation was handed over to Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim in a function this Thursday by WHO’s Country Representative to Maldives, Dr. Arvind Mathur.

Speaking during the function, Minister Azim said the donation will be used in Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Male’ City, as well as 13 hospitals spread across the country.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mathur commended Ministry of Health for its efforts in increasing preparedness possible emergency situations.

He expressed commitment of WHO in providing continued assistance to the Maldivian government.
