President: Nazim's lawyers have the opportunity to go to court with Adheeb's letter

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the lawyers representing the former Defence Minister, Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim have the opportunity to go court regarding the letter sent to the Supreme Court by the former Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb claiming that he knows who planted the firearm found at the former Defence Minister's residence.

Speaking at the ongoing ceremony at the PPM Office in commemoration with the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Moosa Manik signing to PPM, President Yameen said that some of the MPs that recently left PPM have been demanding things he cannot fulfill.

The President said that some MPs are demanding that he use his executive authority to free the former Defence Minister following Adheeb's letter to the Supreme Court.

President Yameen said that he is not one to interfere with the judicial system and reverse the decisions from the courts.

President Yameen said that if Nazim's lawyers believe there's legitimacy in Adheeb's letter, they can go to the Supreme Court to reopen the case.

The President said that some are requesting to pardon the sentence passed on the former President Mohamed Nasheed and it is not something he can do since it goes against his principle to work within regulations.
