Judge Baaree summoned by JSC

Chief Judge of Criminal Court, Abdul Baaree Yoosuf has been summoned by Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

“Sun” has been informed that Baaree was asked to present himself to the commission sometime this Monday morning.

Baaree is the lead judge in the trial of Jumhoory Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim – a hearing of which is scheduled for 1:30 pm this Monday.

The reason for the summons is unclear at this point.

Both Criminal Court and Judicial Service Commission have been unavailable for comment regarding the issue.

Baaree was appointed Chief Judge of Criminal Court in August, 2016, after former Chief Judge Abdulla Mohamed (Abdulla Gaazee) was transferred to Family Court.
