Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation following the discovery of what is believed to be a genuine pistol firearm was discovered in Vaavu atoll Keyodhoo.
The report came in around 11:30 a.m. this morning after what is believed to be a firearm was discovered at the Keyodhoo beach according to the Police.
And said that they are working with the relevant authorities to look into the matter and they cannot release any information at this time.
President of the Keyodhoo Island Council, Ahmed Yoosuf said that the weapon was discovered on the eastern side of the island by two children of nine years.
Previously, a large cache of weapon were found on Baa atoll Hibalhidhoo which contained weapons taken from the MNDF.
