Faaris: If PPM flag was used, it was done within the law

MP for the Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Faaris Maumoon has said that if he has used the PPM flag, it would have been used with the laws.

The MP made the remark during the questioning by the police after being summoned to the police last night around 9:30 p.m.

Talking to the press after leaving the police station, MP Faaris said that he was summoned to be questioned in relation to an investigation into the unlawful use of the PPM flag.

“I said if I have used PPM flag it was used within the law.” MP Faaris said.

The MP for Dhiggaru constituency said that he has told the officers who questioned him that he believes that the police is prejudice against him. The MP assured the people have not committed any crimes.

MP Faairs said that he told the questioning officers to send any crimes he has committed to the Prosecutor General to begin trial.

Repeated attempts to contact the police media official for an official word have been unsuccessful since the official is not answering the phone.

After the Civil Court ruled in favor of President Abdulla Yameen to take charge of the party, the disciplinary committee of the party has since dismissed MP Faaris from it’s membership.

MP Faaris has filed a case in relation to his dismissal at the Civil Court and the casing is still ongoing.

After the internal conflict within the ruling party PPM resulted in two factions, MP Faaris remained on the side of his father, the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

He has since joined the opposition coalition and working politically against the government and led the charge in the no confidence motion against the Speaker of the Parliament, Abdulla Maseeh.
