HRCM to start campaign to resolve political conflict

Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) has made the decision to start a special campaign to resolve the political conflict in the Maldives.

HRCM made this announcement via a statement released today.

The purpose of the campaign is to find solutions to the political conflict through dialogue, and to facilitate the cooperation between different groups to discuss civil, political, social and economic rights and responsibilities, in order to restore peace and order in the society.

The Commission also requested for the cooperation of the public and media in these efforts, and stressed the importance of relaying correct information, and urged the media to conform to defined disciplinary standards.

Their efforts also include expediting processing of complaints filed in relation to the protests, and strengthening their efforts to monitor the protests.
