A branch of the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has been opened at the Centro Mall in Hulhumalé.
The branch was opened at a special ceremony today by the Minister of Finance and Treasury, Ahmed Munawar.
This this the fifth branch of the bank in the Maldives. MIB currently have branches at Malé City, Addu City, Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi and Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.
The MIB branch at Centro Mall provides all the services of the bank including, deposits, withdrawals, investment accounts, financing facilities for business and personal accounts and trade finance along with an ATM of MIB.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the bank, the Chairman of MIB, Najumul Hassan said that the sixth branch of the bank in the country will be opened this year.
However he did not specify which island will be hosting the branch.
The current standing of shares at MIB stands as follows:
- ICD: 70 percent
- Maldivian State: 25 percent
- Amãna Takaful PLC: five percent
