Those who murdered human rights activist and blogger Yamin Rasheed will be brought to justice, with international assistance if necessary, says Minister of Home Affairs, Azleen Ahmed.
Minister Azleen made the remark during an exclusive interview with “Sun” regarding Yamin’s murder case this Monday.
Azleen said that criminals will be brought to face justice and given due punishment.
He said the government would not hesitate to reach out for international assistance, if need be.
“The killers will be made to face justice. The government is doing everything necessary. Yamin’s killers will be found with international assistance, if need be,” said Azleen.
He said the authorities needed huge support from the community, and asked that anyone with information contact the police.
He promised confidentiality and protection for anyone with information.
Azleen said the government’s biggest priority was to establish peace within the community, and would do whatever necessary to make it possible.
Yamin, 29, was found with multiple stab wounds – mainly to his head, neck and chest – on the stairwell of M. Spatula in Male’ City at 2:59 am on April 23.
He was alive when taken to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital at 3:15 am, but died shortly afterwards and was pronounced dead at 3:48 am.
Yamin, who ran the popular blog page “The Daily Panic” was a close friend of missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan.
