Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudi) – the national airline of Saudi Arabia – has launched direct scheduled flight operations between Male’ City and Jeddah.
The operation was launched on April 9.
Saudia started its operations in Maldives with direct flight operations between Male’ City and Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh on March 30, 2016.
Saudia currently operates two weekly flights between the two cities.
The additional flights are expected to boost the number of Saudi tourists – an emerging market for the Maldivian tourism industry.
15,749 Saudi tourists visited Maldives in 2015, which increased to 21,944 Saudi tourists in 2016. It’s a 39.5 percent increase.
