Former President Mohamed Nasheed has apologized to former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, for having accused him of orchestrating the change of government on 7 February 2012.
Nasheed made this statement today through a press release.
Gayoom had refused the request made by US Ambassador Patricia Butenis that Gayoom and Nasheed participate in the all-party-talks, by indicating that he does not wish to engage in dialogue with Nasheed.
Gayoom had said that Nasheed was responsible for spreading lies about him in the Maldives and to international media, and that Nasheed had accused him of being the mastermind behind the change of government; and for these reasons, he did not wish to hold talks with Nasheed.
