First religious channel

Islamic Foundation has launched MVTV, the first religious channel in the Maldives.

Head Production and Broadcasting of MVTV Ibrahim Mohamed said that programs will be broadcasted daily between 14:00 and 00:00.

“We will send programs of sheikhs, and provide religious information. We will choose sheikhs who are not active in politics,” Ibrahim Mohamed said.

MVTV can be found on channel 155 of Medianet.

Ibrahim Mohamed also said that arrangements will be made for MVTV to be broadcasted via digital terrestrial network to islands near Male’, and via satellite all over Maldives.

The channel was approved by the Maldives Broadcasting Commission in May, and is operated from the first floor of Safooramanzil.
