Ahmed Tasmin Ali, Leader of Divehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has said that he was very concerned about the Maldivian Democratic Party’s attempts to push the nation into turmoil and chaos as the holy month of Ramadan approaches.
In a ‘maahefun’, a Maldivian traditional supper held on the eve of Ramadan, organized by DRP, Tasmin spoke, saying that he was concerned about the political unrest gripping the nation as the people get ready to welcome the holy month.
Tasmin said that MDP was trying to undermine peace and content in both Malé the capital and the islands throughout the Maldives and that it was a cause for great concern.
Tasmin called upon all political parties and leaders to act in a way that would enable a peaceful Ramadan in the country. He said that politicians should do everything to ensure that the people have a conducive environment in which they can fulfill their religious obligations during Ramadan, by engaging in worship and meditation.
“I call upon all political leaders of this country to give this country a moment of peace during the holy month of Ramadan. We must allow the people to engage in worship of God during this month instead of being sunk in chaos and unrest”, said Tasmin.
