ADK Hospital has started administering influenza flu vaccine on demand as the number of fatalities from the current H1N1 influenza outbreak rises to five people.
ADK Hospital reports influenza vaccine will be administered every working day from 3 pm, and that limited token numbers will be issued each day.
The price of the service is unclear at this point.
People who wish to have the vaccine administered have formed a long queue stretching beyond the Damas furniture shop located on Sosun Magu.
The hospital reports people who wish to get the vaccine need to produce their ID cards, while pregnant women are required to produce their antenatal cards and cancer patients and people who have undergone transplants need to produce medical documents.
The hospital said children below 6 months will not need to have the vaccine administered.
Things to consider before administering the vaccine:
• Refrain from administering the vaccine to children below 6 months of age
• People with allergies need to consult a doctor before administering the vaccine
• Refrain from administering the vaccine to children with Guillain–Barré syndrome
• People taking medication for other medical conditions need to consult a doctor before administering the vaccine
ADK Hospital has administered the influenza vaccine to 3,400 people so far.
Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital currently administered the influenza vaccine solely for pregnant women.
