Falaah: Will impeach Maumoon from PPM Presidency

Member of the Parliamentary Group of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Ibrahim Falaah has said that the former President of Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom will be impeached from his position as the president of PPM.

Speaking at the press conference to show support from PPM and MDA for the President of the Parliament, Abdulla Maseeh, Falaah said that Maumoon has to be relieved from his position and it would be done through the party.

The MP made the remark after an opposition agreement was established with the signature of the PPM President, Maumoon. It is the first agreement between the two former Presidents, Maumoon and Nasheed, to work together in the political arena.

Joining the opposition initiative is the Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Qasim Ibrahim and the the President of Adhaalath Party, Imran Abdulla.

And with Qasim making promises for the opposition, Falaah said that they can make Qasim speak in favor of the government as soon as tomorrow.

A total of 41 MPs joined the PPM/MDA press conference today.

MPs of the coalition that di not take part in the press conference include the MP for the Eydhafushi constituency, Ahmed Saleem (Redwave Saleem), MP for Dhiddhoo constituency, Abdul-Latheef Mohamed, MP for Maduvvari constituency, Mohamed Ameeth Ahmed Manik and the MP for Vilingili constituency, Saud Hussain and the MP for Kulhudhuffushi constituency, Mohamed Nasheed along with the Deputy Leader of MDA and the MP for the Kudahuvadhoo constituency, Ahmed Amir.
