Majority Leader of the Parliament, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has said that there are MPs that belong to MDP and Jumhooree Party that would openly vote in favor of the government in the no-confidence vote against the President of the Parliament, Abdulla Maseeh on Monday.
Talking on TVM’s “Raajje Miadhu” (Maldives Today) program last night, Nihan said that the oppositions are trying to take a no confidence vote against Maseeh to waste time and show something to some people in the country and abroad.
Indicating to opposition activity, Nihan said that MDP thinks that uniting former political rivals would influence President Yameen’s policies.
He said that he has the guarantee that the no confidence motion will be failed by the government and there are MPs in MDP and JP ready to vote with the government.
While Nihan has made the remark, earlier in the week, the MDP Parliamentary Group member, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that the no confidence motion against Maseeh is as good as done.
“The hope is that after that day MDP would stop this political playing (since) we have many projects planned for this year as well and give the chance to world.” MP Nihan said.
