A team from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has entered the Ministry of Home Affairs to acquire information regarding a corruption case.
The ACC investigative team entered the Ministry with suspicion of corruption in an activity run by the Home Ministry for the “Minivan 50”, the 50th Independence Day of the Maldives.
Neither the Home Ministry nor the ACC has revealed any information on the case.
Media Coordinator of the Home Ministry, Thazmeel Abdul-Samad said that a press conference will be held to inform on the matter.
The festivities of the 50th Independence Day of the Maldives in 2015 was ran from the “Minivan 50” (Independent 50) Office created under the Home Ministry. The Home Minister at the time was Umar Naseer.
A total of MVR 150 million was spent for the festivities of Independence Day 2015.
