MNDF: Cylinder exploded because regulator was not fully tightened

MNDF has said that the gas cylinder explosion at Henveiru Mulhadhooge today was caused by the regulator not being properly tightened.

Media outlets reported a gas cylinder explosion at the residence today because the Police reported the incident as such. In a tweet sent out today at 1:08 p.m., Maldives Police Service said that three people were injured in a gas cylinder explosion and they were being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

But after the Fire and Rescue Service of the MNDF attended the scene of the incident, they said that the gas cylinder caught fire due to the regulator not being properly tightened after replacing the cylinder.

And while the cylinder was not damaged in the incident, the regulator and the pipe was burned.

At the incident at Henveiru Mulhadhooge today, 34-year-old woman along with a 12-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy was injured.

Director of Public Relations and Media at IGMH, Ahmed Mausoom said that none of the victims sustained any “major burns” and their conditions are not critical according to the doctors.
