9th grader suffers multiple broken bones after jumping off building

A mentally challenged 9th grader is being treated at the hospital for injuries after jumping off the first floor of the commercial block in Hulhumale’.

The boy jumped off the building while hanging out with his friends on February 22.

Family reports the boy is mentally challenged and studies in grade 9 at Gaazee School.

Father of the boy – originally from H. A. Filladhoo – Abdul Raheem reported to “Sun” that the boy suffered multiple broken bones due to the fall.

He said the boy is currently being treated at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital and that he’s is now out of danger.

“He jumped off the commercial block in front of Hulhumale’ Hospital. His bones were protruding out. The policemen who took his to the hospital were covered in blood. He barely had any blood left,” said Abdul Raheem.

He said the boy had previously attempted to jump off a flat but was stopped by the police.

Abdul Raheem said the boy was on medication for his condition.
