Ex-PG Muhuthaz admitted to ADK Hospital

Former Prosecutor General Muhuthaz Muhsin – serving a 17-year prison sentence for attempted arbitrary detention of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom - has been admitted to ADK Hospital to undergo a procedure.

When questioned by “Sun”, information officer for Maldives Correctional Service, Ahmed Lugmaan said Muhuthaz was admitted at the hospital temporarily in order to have an injection administered for a spinal problem. And that he would be released this Tuesday.

“He is fine overall. He will be released today after the injection is administered,” said Lugmaan.

During trial, Muhuthaz protested that he was in poor health and that he wasn’t receiving proper healthcare as ordered by court.

Muhuthaz was accused of covertly travelling to A. Dh. Maamingili from Male’ City in the early hours of February 7, 2015, meeting with Chief Magistrate of Maamingili Court Ahmed Nihan, opening the court office and preparing a bogus court order for President Yameen’s arrest.

He was found guilty on the charges of attempting an act of terrorism and participating in an act of terrorism.
