Maldives National Defense Force reports contact has been made with the fishing boat “Blue Fish 1” which was reported missing last week.
MNDF reports contact was made with the boat at 1:40 am this Monday morning.
The authority reports that all 12-people onboard the boat are safe, and that the boat had simply ventured out of Maldivian coverage range for fishing which led to loss of contact.
The boat was outside K. Dhiffushi when contact was made and is now travelling towards Male’ City with the catch.
“Captain of the boat reported to MNDF Coastguard that the boat travelled out for fishing without informing anyone,” reported MNDF.
The boat’s disappearance had led to a large hunt, with MNDF reaching out to neighboring Sri Lanka and India for assistance.
