The team of Maldivian musicians participating in the Sounds of Maldives show organized by Highrise have left for Singapore.
The team, which includes guitarist Ritte, DJ Ayya, Habeys Boduberu and Gravity by Habeys left for Singapore last Wednesday night.
Sounds of Maldives 2017 is scheduled to be held during the Diving Resort and Travel Expo (DRT Expo) scheduled to be held at Suntec City in Singapore from February 24 to February 27.
“Sun” met with the team at Velana International Airport before they left for Singapore.
Muazzin, the lead singer in Gravity by Habeys who rose to fame after the display of his talents at Maldivian Idol, said that the group was ready for the show with daily practices and new songs.
“The songs will be very different. It’s called Sound of Maldives, right? So it will be performed Maldivian-style at the show,” said Muazzin.
Lead vocalist of Habeys Boduberu, Tholal said the group will be performing other traditional entertainment items in addition to “boduberu”, including the “maafathi” dance and “dhandijehun”.
It will be the first international performance by Gravity by Habeys. All members of Habeys by Gravity and Habeys Boduberu thanked the event planner Highrise for the opportunity.
Guitarist and vocalist Rishvan Emon (Ritte) said his performance at the show, too, will be different. He expressed confidence the show will be a success, with performances that are sure prove Maldivians’ musical talent.
“I am confident the show will be a success. All the teams are ready for the show. I thank Highrise for this opportunity on behalf of all the artists,” said Ritte.
DJ Ayya also expressed confidence the show will be a success. He said the music he will be performing will be unique with the infusion of traditional sounds of the boduberu.
