Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has declared that the Maldivian government attached very high importance to its partnership with China.
The remark was made during Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Kong Xuanyou’s
courtesy call on President Yameen this Monday morning.
During the call, President Yameen said his administration was grateful for the strengthening of cooperation between Maldives and China, and support and assistance the Chinese government continued to provide in socioeconomic development of Maldives.
Both Kong Xuanyou and President Yameen discussed exploring further areas of cooperation between Maldives and China.
Kong Xuanyou expressed confidence the partnership between Maldives and China will continue to strengthen, and said the infrastructure development projects in Maldives assisted by Chinese government was symbolic of the partnership between the two countries.
He conveyed assurances of continued assistance by China to Maldives during President Xi Jinping’s administration.
President Yameen was accompanied at the call by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim and Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office, Mohamed Naseer.
Assistant Foreign Minister of China, kong Xuanyou was accompanied by Chinese ambassador to Maldives, Wang Fukang, and the Third Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Wang Fei.
