A fire has been started at the “Dhandimagu Kulhi” (swamp) in Fuvahmulah City for a third time this year tonight.
Muneer, in charge of the Fuvahmulah Council, told Sun Media that the fires seem to have set deliberately. He said that the area set on fire tonight is also a considerably large area of the swamp.
While the swamp was set on fire last night as well and the end of last week.
When asked if the Council is oversee security at the swamp as the swamp is being set on fire intentionally, Muneer said that the Council has not taken any such measures.
Sun Media have been unable to get a word from the Maldives Police Service in relation to the security at the swamp.
Information Officer of MNDF, Captain Ibrahim Azim told Sun Media that they are working to control the fire at the “Dhandimagu Kulhi”.
