A committee has been formed consisting of all the airline operators in the Maldives.
Director of Civil Aviation Authority, Abdulla Rasheed told Sun Media that the purpose of forming the committee was to resolve all the challenges facing the airline operations at Velana International Airport. Under the regulations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the committee is compulsory in the Maldives.
Following the elections to appoint members to the committee held on 8 February 2017, the committee was officially registered. At the election, Etihad Airways was elected as the Chair of the Committee.
Representing Etihad Airways on the board, the Operation Manager of Etihad Airways, Mohamed Riyaz said that all the airline operators are involved in the committee.
While the Committee was officially formed on 8 February and fully functioning, the purpose of the committee is to regulate the all operations of airport security, baggage control, ground operations and all airport operations.
