US Ambassador pays farewell visit to President

US Ambassador to Maldives Patricia Butenis has paid a farewell visit to President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.

The meeting was held at President’s Office this morning.

During the meeting, the President thanked Butenis for the collaborations between Maldives and the US, and expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries will continue to strengthen in the future.

The President also highlighted the economic and political challenges faced by the Maldives, and briefed the US Ambassador on the action taken by the government to combat these challenges.

The US Ambassador praised the President for his patient approach to resolving the issues faced by the country.

She noted the importance of relaying information to citizens on decisions made by the government in terms of development and other important areas.

She also advised the President on the importance of active participation of citizens in development projects in other islands.
