Bullet strikes window at a Hinmafushi house

A bullet has hit the window of a house in Kaafu Hinmafushi.

Police Media Official told Sun Media that a report of the incident was reported this afternoon and officers are active at the scene.

President of the Hinmafushi Island Council, Shan Ibrahim told Sun Media that the bullet hit the window of the house called Lily Night. He said that the house is located near the beach on the north side of the island and the bullet is believed to have come from the MNDF training island of Girifushi.

The Council President said that the house was being renovated to run a guesthouse.

He said that such incidents are a major concern of the island residents and the businessmen running guesthouses.

The businessman who is renting the house to run a guesthouse, Hassan Sameeh, said that the bullet is believed to have struck on Saturday night. And at the time, the foreign investor for the guesthouse was at the house.

Sameeh said that the bullet was discovered today while inspecting the widows to paint them. He said that a loud sound was hear while the foreign man was sleeping and there was no one at the time. The sound hear then is now believed to be the bullet.

A similar incident occurred in 2015 where a door at a house in Hinmafushi was struck with a suspected stray bullet. Although an investigation was launched at the time, up to this date, the cause of the incident has not been solved.
