Housing to clear State property of illegal buildings

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has announced its officials will be setting out this Saturday to clear a State property in Male’ City of buildings constructed on it illegally by private citizens.

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure announced last Friday that some private citizens had illegally built on part of the property, Dhandaheluge in Mafannu district, which is owned by the State.

Ministry said that upon notice by the authority, a 21-day period, starting from January 4, had been given to clear the property of the illegal buildings and other items.

It said its announcement ordering immediate cease of any use being made of the property and any work being carried out on the property and the 21-day ultimatum given in order to do so passed its deadline on January 24.

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure announced officials will start clearing the property this Saturday, January 28.
