Palestine Delegation calls on the Foreign Minister

A delegation of the Palestinian Government led by the Ambassador of Palestine to the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Anwar Al Agha has called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim.

At the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry this afternoon, Minister Asim welcomed the delegation to the Maldives and discussed ways to further enhance and strengthen the close brotherly relations between the Maldives and Palestine. The Maldivian Foreign Minister noted that the visit will pave the way for the first meeting of the Maldives-Palestine Intergovernmental Joint Committee. He also reiterated that the people and the Government of Maldives will continue to standby the people of Palestine and support the Palestine cause.

The Ambassador and the delegation conveyed the appreciation of the Government and the people of Palestine for the continued support from the Government and people of the Maldives. They noted that the Palestine International Cooperation Agency (PICA) has been set up as a way of showing appreciation to the friends of Palestine through assistance and cooperation programs. They expressed their commitment to working closely with the concerned authorities of Maldives to come up with a program of cooperation between the two countries and extend assistance in different fields.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Bilateral, Ahmed Khaleel, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fathimath Inaya and Mr. Abdul Waris Saeed, the Director at the Ministry.

The Palestine delegation is on a 4-day visit to the Maldives and will be meeting with senior government officials of Maldives to draw up a program of cooperation between the two countries in different fields. The delegation includes Mr. Imad Zuhairi, Director General of the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) and senior officials from different Ministries of Palestine.
