Majlis to re-open on February 6

People’s Majlis is scheduled to re-open for the year 2017 on February 6.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is due to attend the sitting and deliver his presidential address to the nation.

Maldivian Constitution dictates that the President address the nation regarding the current situation in Maldives, and his plans to address the issues facing the nation.

A member of People’s Majlis who spoke to “Sun” has confirmed the Majlis administration has informed him the Majlis will re-open in February 6.

Majlis sessions will be held in three terms each year; the first term – from February to April.
