Seven arrested with 740 bottles of alcohol

Seven people have been arrested with 740 bottles of alcohol in an operation conducted by the Police.

In an operation conducted yesterday following a tip received by the Police about alcohol being brought into Malé City from Hulhumalé, Police arrested three locals and four Bangladeshi nationals.

Police said that they arrested they arrested the three locals and a Bangladeshi expatriate yesterday when their launch docked in front of the Bank of Ceylon. And a search of the vessel revealed 84 bottles of alcohol.

And following a tip that a boat related to the case went to Kaafu Dhiffushi, a search was conducted at a Safari yacht docked at the island around 8:40 p.m. where 280 cans of alcoholic beer and 376 bottles of alcohol were confiscated.

Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from the yacht according to the Police.
