Wall of former garbage dump collapses, damaging 3 vehicles

The outer wall of the former garbage dump located near the Youth Center in Galolhu district of Male’ City collapsed this Thursday, damaging three cars parked in the area.

The wall – built from coral stones – collapsed on top of two private cars and one taxi parked in the area.

It resulted in massive damage to the cars, including shattered windshields.

The reason for the wall collapsing is unclear at the moment.

Police said that the incident was reported to the authority at 10 am.

The former garbage dump lies abandoned with piles of soil heaped high above the wall – which some speculate is the reason for the wall collapsing.
