Foreign Ministry hold ambassador briefing program

An ambassador briefing program has been conducted by the Foreign Ministry for the newly appointed diplomats to be posted at Maldives missions abroad.

The Parliament has passed to assign Ambassadors to five countries.

They are:

• Hamdhoon Abdulla Hameed: Resident Ambassador to Singapore

• Jameela Ali Khaalid: First resident Ambassador of the Maldives to Germany

• Mohamed Hussain Shareef: Resident Ambassador to Japan

• Fathimath Inayaa: Non-resident Ambassador to Thailand

• Aishath Shan Shakir: Resident Ambassador to Bangladesh

Although the Parliament has approved the ambassadors, they have not yet been formally assigned to the position.

Aside from the ambassadors, diplomats selected to work at those embassies also took part in the session.

The session conducted by Foreign Service Institute of Maldives (FOSIM) was inaugurated by the Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohamed Asim and welcomed the delegates expressed his confidence in their calibre and unwavering commitment in promoting the Maldives national interest and its foreign policy goals.

The one day briefing session held today at the Ministry, oriented the diplomats to diplomatic protocol, diplomatic communication, foreign policy, multi-lateral engagements, dealing with issues in international politics and consular issues. In addition to this, the program highlighted the several aspects of budgeting and financial management, reporting and effective coordination with missions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
