Attorney General’s Office, in collaboration with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has released the National Human Rights Framework and collection of Maldivian legislature.
National Human Rights Framework was released by chief guest of the function held this Saturday night, Minister of Economic Development – Mohamed Saeed; while the collection of Maldivian legislature was released by Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed.
National Human Rights Framework – designed to create a five-year National Human Rights Action Plan highlights 14 target areas.
They are:
1. Right to education
2. Right to a healthy life
3. Right to a satisfactory quality of living
4. Right to safety
5. Right to gender equality
6. Right to a safe and healthy living environment
7. Right to employment, employees' rights
8. Right to progress
9. Cultural rights
10. Right to live, freedom and safety
11. Equal opportunity for justice, right to a just trial
12. Freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful gathering, right to operate political parties, civil society
13. Right to national identity, travel and involvement in civil society
14. Promoting a culture of respect to human rights
Meanwhile, the collection of Maldivian legislature complied into six volumes will be available to public for purchase from AG Office from January onwards.
AG Anil announced that it will be launching an online platform in early 2017 through which all new legislatures which are ratified can be viewed – in Dhivehi and in English.
