Regulation to undergo reform to introduce multiple types of aviation

Minister of Tourism, Moosa Zameer has announced authorities were in the process of reforming all aviation related regulation to introduce regulations with accommodate facilitation of different types of aviation.

Minister Zameer made the announcement during the statement he issued this Wednesday on occasion of International Civil Aviation Day, celebrated on December 7.

He said authorities would be doing a complete overhaul on flight operation regulation and all licensing regulation, an introduce an all-inclusive set of regulations.

He said the new regulations are designed to increase profitability of aviation industry by permitting recreational operations and rotary-wing aircrafts.

“God willing, we will introduce new aviation services in the future,” said Minister Zameer.

Zameer said that in addition to development projects underway in Ibrahim Nasir International Airport and Gan International Airport, the government would also be focusing on developing other airports in the country.

Zameer also noted that Maldives had the largest water aerodrome operation in the world, and that International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has accepted the regulation prepared by the Water Aerodrome Small Working Group set up by Civil Aviation Authority of Maldives as an Asia Pacific sample regulation.

He said that Maldives was working on establishing a performance based navigation network in air navigation.
