Police seize 6.9 kg narcotics, make 5 arrests in sting operations

Police have seized 6.9 kg of narcotics and made 5 arrests in three separate sting operations it ran with Maldives Customs.

The suspects arrested are three men and two women.

The three men are 21 years, 23 years and 25 years of age; the woman are 25 years and 26 years of age.

Police reports the 26-year-old woman was arrested from the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.

She was arrested on November 21, upon arrival from India with five packets of narcotics hidden inside her luggage.

The narcotics weighed 2.74 kg.

The 23-year-old man was arrested from the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport upon arrival to Maldives from a SriLankan Airlines flight on November 23, carrying hashish oil inside his luggage.

The narcotics weighed 3.142 kg.

The 21-year-old and the 25-year-old were arrested in connection with the same case, later that day.

The 27-year-old woman was arrested from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport upon arrival from India on November 29.

She had 1.032 kg of hashish oil packed inside her luggage.
