Sun Siyam wins World Tourism Pioneer Award

Chairman and Managing Director of Sun Group, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has been conferred the World Tourism Pioneer Award by World Travel Awards.

Siyam was given the award during the WTA 2016 Grand Finale held at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Beach and Spa Resort on Friday night.

In his acceptance speech, Siyam said that those working in the tourism industry spent their whole lives in travel and business. He said that while some frequently shifted their lives to different places, some people spent their whole lives in transit with no home – dedicating their whole lives to the travel required – as global citizens.

“I know the people here tonight have no set home. It’s because people like us don’t have such a place. The whole world is our home,” said Siyam.

The World Tourism Pioneer Award comes mere weeks after he won the Lifetime Achievement Award in Tourism by Maldives Travel Awards.
