Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, who is in Malaysia, has met with the Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak.
The meeting took place this Thursday morning at the sidelines of the ruling Malaysian political party -United Malays National Organization (UMNO) General Assembly held earlier at Putrajaya World Trade Centre.
President Yameen, along with top officials of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) had traveled to Malaysia to attend the UMNO General Assembly.
President’s Office reports that the President Yameen and PM Najib Razak discussed on expanding the scope of cooperation between Maldives and Malaysia.
President Yameen expressed his confidence in continued support from Malaysia, and the strengthening of the ties between the two countries.
President Yameen was accompanied at the meeting by top PPM officials; Minister of Tourism - Moosa Zameer, MP Abdul Raheem Abdulla, MP Dr. Abdulla Khaleel and Maldivian Ambassador to Malaysia - Mohamed Fahumy Hassan.
The meeting took place after the inaugural ceremony of the UMNO General Assembly held at the Putrajaya World Trade Centre earlier this Thursday morning.
