Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) reports the firefighter injured while trying to control the Brotherhood warehouse fire this Monday is to be sent abroad for further treatment.
Director of Public Relations and Media Department of IGMH, Ahmed Mausoom reported to
“Sun” that two firefighters were brought in with injuries; one of who has been released after treatment.
Mausoom said that the other firefighter had extensive injuries to his face. And that arrangements were being made to send him abroad for further treatment.
It is unclear to where he will be sent.
Doctors report the officer’s condition had been stabilized.
“The officer who received serious injuries has deep cuts on his right eyebrow, cheek and lips.
The doctors are stitching them up. It looks like they will recommend he be sent abroad,” said Mausoom.
An eyewitness reported the firefighters suffered the cuts to his face when a panel of glass fell on him from the fifth floor of the building in front of the warehouse.
The witness, who helped put the firefighter on a vehicle to send him to the hospital said that he had been bleeding heavily.
The fire, which started at around noon this Monday burned the four-story warehouse located in Kafidhoo in Mahchangolhi of Male’ City to the ground.
The warehouse, owned by Brotherhood Group, was used to store electronics and cosmetics.
