Former President Mohamed Nasheed has provided information to the Commission of National Inquiry (CNI), created by President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik to investigate the transfer of power.
Speaking to reporters this morning after the meeting with CNI at his former residence Muleeaage, Nasheed said that he had even more information to share with the CNI, and that he will meet them again at 13:30 today.
Nasheed did not provide details of the information he shared with the CNI, but said that it was in relation to the incidents which took place on 7 February 2012.
He said that he requested the CNI to check the bank statements and phone call recordings of the ‘people behind the coup’, and that the CNI had agreed to carry out this investigation.
Nasheed is of the view that no Police or Military officer will provide information in his favour to the CNI.
“I have never spoken to any Police officer on how to provide information to the CNI. I have never mentioned any such thing even to the Military officers around me,” Nasheed said.
President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik and Maldivian Democratic Party Chairperson Reeko Moosa Manik have also provided information to the CNI.
