2 more countries to join SATA in 2017

South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) has remarked that it was its target to have all South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries participate in the event, and announced that two more SAARC countries will feature in the event in 2017.

The countries are Nepal and Bhutan.

Only three SAARC countries; Maldives, Sri Lankan and India are featuring in SATA 2016.

273 businesses have been nominated for awards from 39 categories in 10 segments.

Speaking during SATA “Opportunity Night” held at Mount Lavinia Hotel in Sri Lanka on Tuesday night, President of SATA – India, Suraj Khan commented that SATA was the perfect start to an initiative started by Maldives, Sri Lankan and India four years ago.

Khan announced that Nepal and Bhutan would also feature in SATA, starting 2017, as the event moves forward to establish itself as the most prestigious travel and tourism award in the region.

Khan said in his speech that Colombo Chamber of Commerce had expressed its total commitment to the effort to have all eight SAARC member countries join SATA.

SATA 2016 in organized by Maldivian event management company, High Rise.

The gala event will be held at Mount Lavinia Hotel this Wednesday night.
