National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has announced that 70 families who submitted stable subsidy requests by October had been deemed eligible for the subsidy.
CEO of NSPA, Mujthaba Jaleel reported to “Sun” this Tuesday that all 70 families had been given their subsidy money through Ministry of Finance.
The 70 families deemed eligible are among requests made for the staple subsidy by some 300 families.
The government made the decision to cut staple subsidy to the general population and direct them only towards the poor.
Maximum MVR 240 will be given to eligible households per month.
And the eligibility will be evaluated by end of each month by NSPA.
“At the end of each month, we will decide who is eligible for subsidy that month. Request for subsidy is open 24/7,” said Mujthaba.
He said the subsidy money would be issued on a regular basis.
