MP Wadde summoned to police headquarters

Thulusdhoo MP, Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim (Lawyer Wadde) has been summoned to police headquarters.

Wadde has confirmed to “Sun” he has received notice summoning him to police headquarters regarding an ongoing investigation at 8:30 pm, this Tuesday.

Wadde reported that he did not know what the investigation was regarding.

“As instructed by Maldives Police Service, I will present myself to the police headquarters tonight,” he said.

Police are unavailable for comment regarding the case at the moment.

Wadde is a member of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), and has sided with its leader, former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom against the faction of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

He has been outspoken in his criticism towards the recent policies implemented by the government, including the decision to cut subsidies on staple products to the general population and direct them only towards the poor.
